Goodbye to Fritz

Today has been quite a busy day. First thing this morning, Jeniese and I set off for the groomers at Animalerie Babalou where Jeniese was going to her first grooming on one of my own dogs, Maddie. That way if she screwed it up, it wouldn't matter. l0l. Just kidding J. While they all got on with the grooming, I went off to gather up needed supplies for the upcoming adoption information day this Saturday and Sunday, and of course, everything I needed was back-ordered or the computers were down, etc. Ahh, well, what can you do. I managed to get some things, then off back to the groomers to pick up the gang. Maddie looks lovely, I'll get a picture and try and post it after I have downloaded the photo software.

Once I got home, I checked the messages, and got some very sad news, Lise, who fostered/adopted one of our very special cases, Fritz, had left me a message that he died this morning. He had a massive heart attack and died while she was with him in her kitchen. She is terribly upset as she adored him. Fritz was a 9 year old, Rotti, who had been left living outside and had not had much care taken of him. We all loved him from the moment we saw him when Kim at Country Meadow Kennels took him in along with Maggs and Raggs, two sheepdogs who had been living with Fritz. The 3 of them were such a mess. Fritz's eyes were empty and we weren't sure how he was going to make it, but Lise wanted to take him home, so we made her a long term foster. Her dog, Apollo, another rottie, but much younger, got along great with him and so there he settled until today, when we received this very sad news. He lived a wonderful last year of his life with Lise and Apollo and he knew what it was like to be truly loved and adored.

Our hearts and thoughts go out Lise at this time. A memorium to Fritz will be posted on the In Memorium page on the Foxy website www.foxyscaninecompanions.ca in the next day or two.

We need foster homes for a little cocker spaniel and a german shepherd mix that will be coming in soon, so if you have thought about fostering, now is the time to do it. You can complete the foster application on our website under the Contact Us link. Also, got calls to surrende a lab mix, and to see if we had a foster for a 7 month old shih-tzu, while the lady's mother is in hospital. Unfortunately, no fosters available at the moment to help out. But you know what will turn up out of the blue.

Maybe off to Ottawa tomorrow with Rosie Animal Adoptions, then meeting with Julie from Guides Canine, then off to Country Meadows Kennel for a vist.

I dont know where the days go, they certainly didn't go this fast while I was working full time. Not sure how I had time to do that over the last 10 years.

Gotta go make supper now and get the pooches out for their evening stroll. Foxy's is closed for the evening and all seems well. Ziggy is on trial in his adoptive home, so hoping that all goes well. Maxwell is his usually bundle of energy and fun.

Here's Maxwell, isnt he a cutie. He's still waiting for his forever home.

Bye for now.

well... all i have to say is how great your adoption centre is. A little bit more than a year ago my sister came home with tears in her eyes and a crumpled paper she had taken of a bilboard at a dep, during dinner she explained how cute the dog was and how we really need a dog. I thought there was no way we were getting a dog because we already have three cats... anyway i'm not sure how we convinced my dad but we ended up with a little black and white papillon. she was a little nervous at first but after the first week of having her, her true personality started to show... well now shes 1 year and a bit, we just celebrated her birthay in january, and i love this dog, not so much as just a dog but more like a sister. Roxy is the MOST wonderful animal, the cutest most adorible little doggie you will ever see. i just love her so mucH, we spend hours outside playing with the ball and giving her bathes...it's funny how much she loves water..she does really special things i have never seen another dog do before.
anyway i just wanted to say THANK YOU ANDREA for bringing this magnificient baby girl into our lives!!!!!
