Goodbye to Lucky

Last night was a difficult time. My little shih-tzu Lucky passed away. He was about 10 years old, came into Foxy's two years ago. He was such a bad tempered little guy that we would not be able to adopt him out. He has arthritis quite badly, and was in a lot of pain. Dr. Plasse took x-rays of his legs and found out his sockets were not even joined, his ligments were what were holding him up and they got tired, hence the rubberband walk.
He did make great progress after the first year and didn't bite me as often. With good food and medication, he became a member of the family and took his place as head of the sofa in the den, or on the bed in the guest room.
Yesterday, he began vomiting blood and passing blood through his anal region. An emergency trip to the vets confimed that he was bleeding internal and was passing away, so we made the decision to let him go peacefully.
"Goodbye, my little guy. You made your presence known and this morning it is quiet without your barking for me to come carry you down for breakfast. Enjoy the Rainbow Bridge, Foxy will be waiting for you. Run free and enjoy the wide-open space and most of all enjoy being pain-free. I'll miss you greeting me when I come in. Rest in Peace little guy."
We have been working with Fred this week, the young rotti we took in from Kingston Humane Society. What a fantastic dog. Loves to hug and give kisses. He lays against you and wraps his front legs around your neck and cuddles into your neck. He is turning out to be one fantastic dog.
Winston is doing really well. He and Fred get lots of playtime together. Maxwell, the little cocker, gets right in there with the big guys and thinks he is 4 times the size he is. He is coming along well with his toilet training and is a very sweet little guy.
